Last week, our English teacher discussed about what an essay is. We all knew that an essay is usually a short piece of writing which is quite often written from an author’s own opinion.

Essays consist of a number of elements, including learned arguments, observations of one’s daily life, recollections, and reflections of the author. The definition of an essay is indistinct, overlapping with those of an editorial and a short story or narrative. You can also define essay as a prose composition with a focused topic of argument or a long, systematic discussion. Secondary students are typically taught structured essay formats to improve their talent in writing. The concept of an essay has been extended to other mediums further than inscription. After almost an hour of talking about that topic, as expected, she gave us an Assignment. We are tasked to make a report about the summary of what she told us that regards with essay. Then the day of our report came. Since I have the first class number, I was assigned to report first. Then suddenly, I was already in front of my teacher. The first word that came out her mouth was “Congratulations.” I was really confused with what she said. Just a while ago, I was thinking about during those times was, she is going to scold me with the reason that I don’t know thus, I feel so puzzled. The first word that she uttered was then followed. That was the only time all the mixed emotions inside of me were gone. Why? Simply because, I was chosen to be the representative for the upcoming essay writing contest. As soon as I heard that very good news, I thanked my teacher and went home as fast as I can.
